Who is Alex Barron?

The contest between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins lacked any offensive play that would be worthy of an ESPN highlight reel. Without scoring any offensive touchdowns, the Redskins managed to slip by the Cowboys by a score of 13 vs. 7.

Both teams were dismal inside the red zone. Dallas was 1/3 – 33%, and Washington was worst at 0/2 – 0%. Washington’s offensive consisted of a pair of field goals in the 1st and 4th quarters. But it was their defense that won the game for them when DeAngelo Hall scored a touchdown on a 32 yard fumble return in the 2nd quarter.

Still, Tony Romo and the boys had a chance to win the game. Romo threw a 4 yard touchdown pass to Miles Austin in the 3rd quarter, which pulled them within 3 points of the Redskins (7 vs. 10). Late in the 4th quarter the Redskins scored their second of two field goals to take a six point lead (13 vs. 7). With 1:50 left in the game, the Cowboys drove deep into Redskins' territory. Then with 3 seconds left on the clock, the Cowboys ran their last play of the game, which was a perfect strike from Romo to a wide open Roy Williams sitting in the end zone. Touch down! Not so fast, offensive holding was called on the Cowboys. A play that should have resulted in a come-from-behind win for the Cowboys instead resulted in a dodged bullet by the Redskins, which then ricocheted and shot the Cowboys in the ass. If you are into pointing fingers, No. 71 Alex Barron committed the untimely foul, which was 1 of 3 holding penalties called on Barron during the course of the contest (clearly Barron will be sitting by himself on the plane ride home).

The only satisfaction that I can take away from this game is the fact that the Cowboys will get another crack at the Redskins later on this season.
